A NEW principal has been appointed to the Loreto Grammar School in Omagh after the recent retirement of Grainne O’Hanlon from the post.
The school’s Board of Governors has this week confirmed that Susan Cullinan, who had been serving as vice-principal, is to take up the top post. She will begin her work in the role in January 2021.
“Mrs Cullinan, brings a breadth of experience in curriculum and pastoral leadership and is wished every success in her future position,” the Board of Governors said.
Mrs Cullinan thanked the Board of Governors and the Loreto Trustees for appointing her to the post.
“This is a role which I am delighted to undertake,” she said.
“It is an absolute privilege to lead this outstanding school, building upon the excellent foundations embedded by former Loreto principals and in particular I pay tribute to our highly esteemed outgoing principal, Mrs G O’Hanlon.
“I look forward to guiding staff and supporting students through their educational journey and working in partnership with parents, guardians an the wider school community to achieve our vision of making young dreams possible.
“We will continue to be guided by our faith and Loreto tradition of education in meeting current and future challenges.”
Mrs Cullinan replaces Grainne O’Hanlon who had spent more than 20 years at the helm of the school.
Mrs O’Hanlon had been due to retire in February of this year, but remained in post to help steer the school through the
challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic.
