WHEN Adam Dolan released his first single earlier this year, he told a tale of unrequited love, condemned to be a one-sided affair because the narrator was incapable of communicating how he felt to the woman he loved.
Continuing with the theme of complicated love, this time, the 25-year-old grapples with romance from another angle, as he struggles to decide whether to give his ex one last chance… ‘one more time’.
“You’ve always got those two voices in your head when a a relationship ends,” said the Strabane man. “There is the reasonable voice that is laden with logic – the one that you listened to when you said that it was over, and justified it to yourself and her with a list of what seemed like irrefutable reasons.
“Then, there is the irrational voice of love and lust that overrides the system; doing anything it can to persuade you that the relationship deserves ‘one last chance.”
This was the voice that prevailed when Adam penned his most recent track, proving, once again, that man’s reason is no match for the more fundamental forces of human nature. Adam delivers the story in his characteristic style which he has become known for across the North’s pub and club circuit – an unabashed pop-rock sound with a twang of country flavour!
“I grew up listening to a wide range of music,” said Adam. “But I suppose when it comes to influences, I’d have to point to the likes of Springsteen, Billy Joel, Tim McGraw and Tommy Emmanuel as some of the masters I’ve taken the most from.”
If the last name isn’t familiar you, Tommy Emmanuel is an Australian fingerstyle guitarist, maybe the best there is – and watching Adam live, you can spot the influence a mile off. He’s no slouch on the strings!
Adam – who recently became a father – will be marking ‘One More Time’ down as another track on the album, which he plans to release at some stage next year.
“I’ve got enough songs recorded to put an album out right now, but seeing as it is my first, I want it to be all orginal stuff that I’ve written myself,” he said.
‘One More Time’ was released on Friday, and has been doing well.
